I'm teaching this class at MCAD in handmade paper and woodcut! Here's more information about the class!
Have you always wanted to learn how to create unique sheets of paper with your own printed imagery? This class will teach students the processes of handmade paper and relief printmaking. In MCAD’s papermaking studio, they will learn how to make Western style paper using basic colors and fibers such as abaca and cotton. Emphasis will be on sheet formation. From there the class will move to the printmaking studio, where students will learn the process of carving wood to create their own relief prints. Both processes will be combined as students print their relief prints on their handmade paper.
The emphasis will be on learning both processes by creating a set of editioned prints on their editioned paper. Students will be given a supply list of materials to bring to the first day of class. No previous experience necessary. / Facilities fee of $25 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above.
